About Us
Ghana Parade Day has since been held in August and has grown beyond a parade into a festival bringing together New Yorkers, visitors to the city, and Ghanaians from across the New York metropolitan area and further afield to revel in the sounds, sights, and delicacies that are hallmarks of the Ghanaian culture.
The event, Ghana Fest-NY celebrates Ghanaians and Ghanaian-Americans making positive contributions across a wide range of fields – science, business, the arts, entertainment, community service, sports, among others – inspiring future generations to new heights. More than just a parade, this festival is a grand celebration of unity, diversity, and national pride, bringing together New Yorkers, visitors, and the Ghanaian diaspora in one unforgettable experience.

Our History
Kwame Nkrumah said it best when he spoke of the undeniable connection we as Africans born in or out of Africa have to our motherland. It is this connection that steered the founding of the National Ghana Parade Council (NGPC), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2008 by Samuel Aboah. Inspired by events commemorating Ghana’s 50th Anniversary in 2008, NGPC sought to establish as an annual event a day that New Yorkers would celebrate Ghanaian heritage and culture for generations to come.
Our Vision
Our vision is to foster cultural exchange and promote cross-cultural understanding by sharing Africa’s heritage with people from all over the world. Through educational programs, exhibitions, and events, we seek to raise awareness about Africa’s diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions to humanity.

To promote and celebrate the diversity and richness of Ghanaian culture, empower Ghanaians, and make positive contributions within the Ghanaian community.
